These 17 photos of flowers and grass were taken by my mother on June 30, 2025, during her solo walk. Despite mobility limitations, she carefully photographed these subjects while deliberately avoiding buildings and signs in the frame. This was not a result of looking down while walking, but rather a conscious effort to respect privacy and focus on nature's beauty.
My mother took these photos specifically for this project, using a retired Galaxy A23 5G that I gave her as a lightweight camera. The device automatically uploads photos to Google Photos, ensuring the memories are preserved even if the device is lost or damaged.
This concept represents more than simple photography. As we age and our bodies may weaken, even imperfect photos can help us remember the moments when they were taken, preventing aging from destroying the freedom of our hearts. These images serve as a bridge between present capabilities and future needs, ensuring that dignity and connection to beauty remain accessible regardless of physical limitations.
Captured between 6:00 PM and 6:18 PM during an evening walk
These photographs were taken with careful consideration for both privacy and artistic expression. My mother, who studied traditional Japanese ikebana (flower arrangement) during her university years and achieved master-level certification, brings her fundamental aesthetic sense to this work despite any limitations in photographic technique.
The choice of the Galaxy A23 5G as a lightweight camera reflects practical considerations for someone with mobility limitations, while the automatic backup to Google Photos ensures these "windows to the heart" will remain accessible for future reflection and comfort.
